Wintheiser, St. Olaf finish first at NCAA DIII Regional Championships

PELLA, Iowa.- Grant Wintheiser claimed the honor of individual champion as the St. Olaf men's cross country team finished first at the NCAA DIII Central Region Cross Country Championships on Saturday.

Wintheiser completed the course with a time of 24:13.4, as five St. Olaf runners finished within the top 10 finishers. Jake Campbell (24:45.6), Jake Brown (24:50.7), Paul Escher (24:54.1) and Phillip Meyer (25.03.3) finished along Wintheiser at third, fourth, fifth, and eigth places respectively.

St. Olaf ended the meet with a combined team score of 21, 57 points better than runner-up Loras College, who managed a combined team score of 78.

St. Olaf will compete in the NCAA Division III Championships on November 22nd in Mason, Ohio. The Oles are currently ranked 3rd in the nation behind North Central (Illinois) and UW-Eau Claire(Wis.).
