ST. PAUL, Minn. -
Jake Campbell broke a 35 year old school record in the 5000m on Friday night as the Oles competed in The Showcase at St. Thomas University.
Campbell's time of 14:28.62 was over ten seconds faster than Dave Peterson's 5000m time of 14:39.1 in 1980. Â Along with Campbell's 2nd place finish, the Oles also had top three finishes in the 400m, 600m, 1000m, and the 4x200m relay.
James McFarlin rad a season best time of 50.29 to finish third in the 400m dash. Â
Kevin Skrip followed close behind in fifth with a time of 51.09. Â Both McFarlin and Skrip were members of the St. Olaf 4x400m relay team that took top honors at the 2014 MIAC Indoor Championships last spring.
The Oles finished first and second in the 1000m with
Paul Escher posting a winning time of 2:30.75, and
Jacob Eggers running a season best time to finish in 2:31.99.
Justin Elstad,
Ayodele Bandele, Joey Pugh, and Trevor Stuart ran a Olaf season best time of 1:33.81 to win the 4x200m relay. Â The relay team comprised of only freshmen held off St. Thomas by .64 seconds.
The Oles race again at Tostrud Center in Northfield next Saturday.
