NORTHFIELD, Minn. -
Kevin Skrip won the 600m with the fastest time in St. Olaf history (1:21.73), breaking a record set in 1989 by Steve Mathre (1:21.98).
Aaron Dunphy,
James McFarlin and
Joe Coffey also captured individual titles to lead the Oles to a second place team finish at Tostrud Center on Saturday afternoon.
Dunphy won the 60m hurdles by six thousandths of a second with a final time of 8.692 seconds. Â McFarlin, who competed in the 400m last night at the Snowshoe Open, won both the 60m (7.14) and the 200m (22.71), and Coffey returned to action with a strong performance in the mile, winning the event in 4:23.10.
Freshmen
Zach Hinz and
Michael Wegter each ran season-bests in the mile to finish 3rd and 4th behind Coffey in the mile. Â The 3000m featured a pack of five Oles finishing 2nd-6th, including three sub-9 minute performances by
Tayler Aarness,
Keith Ketola, and
Calvin Lehn.
Joe Pugh ran a season-best time of 51.98 in the 400m to finish third. Â Pugh also competed in both the 4x200 and the 4x400 meter relays.
Decathlete
Tamas Peterson led the Oles in the high jump. Â Peterson cleared 1.85m to finish third in the event.
Ethan Lunning was the runner-up in both the weight throw and the shot put, posting marks of 14.07m and 13.80m respectively.
As a team, St. Olaf finished with 146 team points, 30 points behind meet champion St. Thomas.
The Oles race again on Friday at Tostrud Center.
