Aaron Dunphy,
Jake Campbell and
Paul Escher each captured an individual title at day one of the MIAC Championships
Dunphy was victorious in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.48, finishing .15 seconds ahead of runner up Eric Hanson of Hamiline University.
Campbell repeated as MIAC champion in the 5000 meter race with a winning time of 14:40.93, setting the new facility record in the process. Â Fellow Ole
Phillip Meyer was the runner-up in the 5000 finishing in 14:41.85. Â The Oles dominated the 5000 meter event, scoring 28 points out of a total 39 points in the event. Â
Kyle Wagener (4th - 15:24.66),
Calvin Lehn (6th - 15:29.97) and
Keith Ketola (7th - 15:31.22) all scored for the Oles in the 5000 as well.
Escher ran 4:18.05 to win the mile event, followed closely by teammate
Joe Coffey, who ran his best time of the year to finish second in 4:19.45.
The Oles distance medley relay won the MIAC championship as well with a final time of 10:33.25.
James McFarlin finished will for the Oles in the 400 meter race coming in fourth in 50.69.
The Oles finished in second in the team score with 76 points, four points behind St. Thomas. Â The Oles look to upset the Tommies in tomorrow's competition, as St. Thomas has won 30 straight MIAC indoor championships.
