Full ResultsST. PAUL, Minn. - The St. Olaf women's track team swept the top three spots in both the 800 and 1500 as they competed at the Hamline Twilight meet on Wednesday afternoon.
Leading the charge in the 800 was senior
Megan Holmes, who continued her strong season by winning the event in 2:23.36. Â
Jena Moody and
Josephine Brekke rounded out the podium for the Oles. Â
Mary Eide also gave the Oles a boost in the event as she cruised in to finish fifth in 2:28.00.
The 1500 was led by a trio of Oles, but
Amy Waananen opened a gap on the field to finish first in 4:51.13. Â Teammates
Piper Bain and Abbey Schnaith held off Laura Borkenhagen of UM-Morris to claim second and third, while keeping their time below five minutes.
The sprinting duo of Abby Stets and
Madison VanWylen had another excellent day of competition at Hamline. Â Stets finished second and fourth in the 100 and 200 respectively, while VanWylen surged to a second place finish in the 400. Â Both also raced for the Oles on the 4x100 relay team that placed second in 50.33.
In the 100 meter hurdles,
Masha Grizhebovskaya finished fourth in 16.09, only finishing .08 seconds behind her best time this season.
Jane Vezina, a first year track athlete threw the javelin for the Oles, improving upon her distance from last week, and placing seventh in the meet.
St. Olaf will compete next at the Macalester Janis Rider Invite on Saturday.
