ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Oles won seven events on their way to a second place finish at the Janis Rider Invitational held at Macalester College on Saturday afternoon.
The Oles had the individual champion from every distance between the 1500 and the 5000. Megan Holmes and Josephine Brekke finished first and second in the 1500. Holmes was also victorious last week in the 800 at the Hamline Twilight meet.
In the 3000, Amy Waananen won the traditionally indoor-exclusive event in a time of 10:21.77 with a strong field behind her. In the 3000 meter steeplechase, Piper Bain improved upon her steeplechase debut time at the Manitou Classic by running 11:22.56, over three seconds faster than her time eight days ago.
Kelsey Coulter claimed the top spot in a six athlete field in the 5000. Coulter finished with a comfortable lead while running 18:49.8.
Abby Stets won the 400 in 58.58 to pace St. Olaf in the sprinting events and Dani Larson cleared the top height in the high jump to lead the Oles in the field events.
Finally, the 4x800 meter relay team composed of Madison VanWylen, Abbey Schnaith, Holmes and Larson took top honors while running 9:44.06. Sarah Bransford, Suzie Hoops, Brekke, and Jena Moody took second in the event, averaging 2:29.8 per leg for a final time of 9:59.2.
The Oles race next at the Tommie Twilight meet held on Wednesday.
