Full ResultsNORTHFIELD, Minn. - The St. Olaf men's track team crossed the Cannon River to race Carleton in a dual meet at Laird Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
Kevin Skrip had a fantastic day for St. Olaf with a first place finish in the 200 (22.58) and an exciting come-from-behind victory in the 4x400 relay. Â Joey Pugh,
Robbie Holmes, and
Austin Redfield ran the first three legs for the Oles.
St. Olaf had the most success in the field events as
Mark Smith won both the high jump and the long jump for the Oles with a vertical clearance of 1.88 meters and horizontal fight of 6.57 meters. Â
Ethan Lunning was also a double winner as he took the discus (42.31m) and hammer (48.03m) titles. Â Finally,
Nick Woods reigned in the shot put, out-throwing teammate Lunning with a season best of 14.25 meters.
The Oles had 17 competitors in the 800, including five sub-2:00 performances. Â
Jake Campbell and
Paul Escher led the Oles in second and third with times of 1:54.84 and 1:55.51 respectively.
Jake Brown won a three athlete field in the 3000 meter steeplechase, running 18 seconds faster than his seed time with a final time of 9:32.25. Â
Mitchell Miller debuted in the steeplechase as well. finishing in 11:00.04.
St. Olaf comptetes on Saturday at the annual Meet of Saints held at St. Thomas this year. Â This is the final race where the Oles can reach qualifying marks for the MIAC Championships.
