Oles race at the Meet of Saints

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The St. Olaf men's track team captured five individual titles at the Meet of Saints contested at St. Thomas on Saturday.

Ethan Lunning was a double winner on the day as he first threw 49.48 to win the hammer throw, then followed that performance with a winning throw 42.88 meters in the discus.

All five of the Oles who competed in the 400m ran season bests.  Kevin Skrip won the event in 49.01, and Joey Pugh dropped almost a full second off of his previous best time of 52.17 by placing sixth in 51.24.  Austin Redfield, Matthew Kessler and Trevor Stewart rounded out the season best performances with finishes of 52:20, 52.42 and 53.15 respectively.

Jake Campbell paced a competitive 1500m field, and finished first in 3:50.45.  Jacob Eggers and Sean Bjork each ran career bests of 4:52.05 and 3:53.41 respectively.  Grant Wintheiser finished between Eggers and Bjork in 3:52.20.

Wintheiser doubled back after the 1500m to easily win the 5000m in 15:24.57.  Adam Wood was the second finisher in the event with a 16:28.02.

The Oles compete next at the MIAC Championships held at Macalester next weekend.
