ST. PAUL, Minn. - The St. Olaf women's track and field team opened its season at the St.Thomas Opener on Friday night.
The Oles swept the top three places in the 800 and 3000 meter runs. Â
Suzie Hoops won the 800 with a final time of 2:27.15. Â Completing the podium in that event was sophomore
Lindsey Kemp and Rudorwamwari Nyakand. Â
Morghen Philippi turned in a MIAC leading time of 10:46.14 in the 3000 while running away from the rest of the field. Â
Joy Claypoole and
Erin McIntosh finished second and third with times of 11:34.22 and 11:47.42 respectively.
Allison Trezona opened the season with a first place finish in the 1000 meter run in a time of 3:14.6. Â Trezona held of Victoria Simones of St. Thomas who finished less than four seconds behind. Â
Madison VanWylen led a large field of competitors in the 200 meter dash with a winning time of 27:43. Â
Lillie Meakim finished fifth in the event in 27:93.
Emma Fulton opened her pole vault season clearing a height of 2.90 meters to win the event.
In the only relay event of the night, the Oles finished second with a time of 4:29.28. Â The team was led off by Hoops, followed by
Katie Spray,
Lindsey Kemp and
Lydia Downs.
The Oles compete next in a triangular home meet against Carleton and Hamline next Friday.
