ResultsNORTHFIELD, Minn. - The St. Olaf men's track team hosted the Tostrud Open on Saturday afternoon.
The Oles were looking to add qualifiers for the MIAC Championships taking place in two weeks at Carleton College, and followed through with multiple MIAC conference qualifying times.
Joe Pugh won the 600 meter dash with a time of 1:27.47 holding off Ethan Engberg of Macalester by just over one second.
Leading the Oles in the 60 meter dash was
Justin Elstad who ran 7.20 in finals to finish as the runner up to Anthony Ekholm of St. Thomas. Â Also running in the 60 meter finals was
Logan Weiss who finished 6th in 7.29. Â The duo also led the Oles in the 200 with places of fifth (Elstad) and ninth (Weiss).
St. Olaf had a trio of Oles finish at 2:02 in the 800. Â
Ryan Van Mechelen,
William Anderson and
Calvin Knickerbocker finished fourth, fifth and sixth with times of 2:02.05, 2:02.35 and 2:02.42 respectively. Â
Sam Longenbach closed hard to finish right behind in eighth with a 2:02.85.
First years
Justin Furcich and Alexander Behre who finished sixth and ninth respectively with times of 4:34.59 and 4:35.88. Â
Eric Bakken dropped ten seconds from the Tommie Showcase with a time of 4:41.67 today.
David Ellenberger won the 3000 in impressive fashion leading the final 13 laps of the 15 lap race. Â Ellenberger held off a charging Tris Dodge of Carleton to win by just .33 seconds. Â Ellenberger's final time of 9:00.02 will qualify him into the MIAC championships in the event.
In the throws,
Nick Woods returned after competing last night at the Snowshoe Open to finish fifth in the weight throw (14.11 meters) and win the shot put with a put of 15.38 meters. Â The shot put throw was .41 meters farther than he threw just last night at Snowshoe.
The Oles compete next at another home meet on Friday. Â The Ole Qualifier will be the last chance for MIAC teams to snag MIAC conference qualifying times.
