ResultsNORTHFIELD, Minn. - With one week until the MIAC Conference Championships, the St. Olaf women's track and field team hosted the final qualifying meet on Friday night.
The Oles landed multiple qualifying meets, with strong showings across the events, including key victories against multiple MIAC rivals.
The St. Olaf 4x200 meter relay team consisting of
Abby Stets,
Madison Van Wylen,
Lillie Meakim and
Hayli Marquette placed second behind St. Thomas, but a final time of 1:46.98 only put them 0.63 seconds behind the Tommies. Â Meakim doubled back in the 60 meters with a third place finish in 6.27. Â
Jane Vezina was fifth in the event in 8.49. Â Likewise, Stets doubled in the 400 meter dash, placing third in just over 60 seconds (1:00.29).
Two impressive section victories in the 800 came from
Allison Trezona and
Suzie Hoops. Â Both won their heat by leading wire-to-wire. Â Trezona ultimately finished sixth overall (2:27.13) and Hoops won the event in 2:19.67.
Van Wylen placed first in the long jump after leaping 5.08 meters. Â
Amanda Kaing jumped to 13th place with a jump of 4.55 meters. Â In the triple jump,
Masha Grizhebovskaya finished fourth (10.56 meters) and Kaing repeated in 13th place.
In the mile,
Piper Bain ran a MIAC qualifying time of 5:19.96 in her first indoor race of the year, placing fifth. Â Josephine Brekke was three places behind in eighth (5:24.44). Â
Anna Wall won her heat of the mile with a 5:47.57, placing 14th overall.
In the throwing events,
Michaela Bolden threw 14.42 meters to finish second in the weight throw and
Hannah Nordby thew 8.46 meters in the shot put, placing her in 13th.
The Oles compete at the MIAC Championships next Friday and Saturday. Â The championships will be hosted by Carleton College.
