Paul Escher improved upon his 1000 meter school record as the Oles hosted the final indoor meet of the 2016 season before the MIAC Championships.
Escher held off a charging Thomas Feichtinger to win the event in 2:27.61, breaking his own school record that was set last year. Â Also racing in the 1K was
Liam Getzloff (8th - 2:42.72),
Justin Furcich (9th - 2:43.10) and
Derek DeBlieck (14th - 2:46.05).
James McFarlin won both the 200 meter dash (22.67) and the 400 meter dash (50.29). Â
Justin Elstad finished fourth in the 200 (23.35) and fifth in the 60 meter dash (7.21). Â The two also competed in the 4x400 meter relay alongside
Joe Pugh and
Kevin Skrip. Â The relay team finished second to St. Thomas in 3:23.88. Â Skrip doubled in the 600 meter dash, winning the event in a season best split of 1:22.19. Â
The Oles took the top four spots in the 3000, with
Jake Campbell leading the way in 8:45.41. Â
Paul Timm,
Tayler Aarness and
David Ellenberger followed with times of 8:46.10, 8:50.26 and 8:53.27 respectively.
In the field events, Christ Frick jumped to a fifth place finish in the long jump (6.26 meters) and Trevor Steward lept 5.72 meters to place 14th.
Adam Neuger cleared 1.66 meters in the high jump to place sixth, and
Nick Woods continued his strong junior season with a runner-up performance in the shot put with a throw of 15.39 meters.
The Oles race next weekend at Carleton College for the MIAC Indoor Championships.
