ResultsST. PAUL, Minn. - Hot weather didn't phase the competition as the St. Olaf women's track and field team competed at the Holst Invitational at Concordia-St. Paul on Saturday afternoon.
First year
Kelsey Weed continued her strong javelin season with a sixth place finish, throwing 32.56 meters. Â
Jane Vezina was 29th with a toss of 23.57 meters. Â Also in the field events,
Michaela Bolden placed 11th in the hammer throw with a distance of 43.24 meters and Meg Anderson and
Courtney Miller placed 11th and 18th with clearances of 1.50 and 1.45 meters in the high jump.
On the track, the meet was capped by a thrilling third place (3:59.86) finish by the 4x400 relay team consisting of
Abby Stets,
Abbey Schnaith,
Susan Hoops and
Madison Van Wylen. Â Van Wylen held off a charging Carleton runner to finish .03 seconds ahead of the Cannon River rivals. Â The individuals on the relay had excellent days in other events as well. Â Stets placed 10th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.65, and 11th in the 200 (26.12). Â Hoops and Schnaith went 5th and 7th in the 800 with respective times of 2:18.58 and 2:19.71. Â
Anna Holten and
Rachel Hoober also ran the 800, finishing in 2:32.40 and 2:42..22. Â Van Wylen was sixth in the 200 (25.77) and 18th in the 100 meter hurdles (16.15).
In the 1500,
Josefine Brekke led a large Ole squad with a fifth place finish in 4:52.33. Â
Mary Eide and
Briana Paulsen were 24th (5:11.22) and 28th (5:13.57), followed closely by teammates Sarah Lind (32nd - 5:19.11) and
Katie Spray (33rd - 5:19.28).
The Oles separated into two packs in the 5000 with
Maggie Weiss,
Stella Arndorfer and
Rebecca Walton running 12th, 13th and 15th, and
Siri Block and
Madeleine Wagner-Sherer running tandem in 19th and 20th.
St. Olaf hosts the Manitou Classic on Friday, April 22nd at the St. Olaf outdoor track.
