ST. PAUL, Minn. - Traveling up to Macalester College, the St. Olaf women's track and field team raced at the Janis Rider Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
The Oles returned to competition today after having Tuesday's meet at Hamline cancelled due to weather concerns.
Annika Johnson and
Michaela Bolden led the Oles in the throwing events as Johnson placed eighth in the discus throw with a distance of 35.25 meters, and Bolden was the runner up in the hammer throw with a distance of 45.66 meters. Â Also throwing the hammer was
Hannah Nordby (10th - 36.34 meters) and
Katherine LeClair (17th - 25.12 meters). Â
Kelsey Weed threw the javelin a new season best distance of 36.09 meters to place sixth.
In the mid-distance events,
Morghen Philippi took the silver medal in the 1500, running a time of 4:58.21. Â
Abbey Schnaith was also in the top heat with Philippi, running 5:03.63. Â
Mary Eide took the silver in the second heat of the 1500, running 5:10.09 with
Maggie Weiss close behind in 5:12.69. Â In the 800,
Josefine Brekke paced the Oles with a 2:21.57 time and
Briana Paulsen set the pace in the second heat while running 2:29.05. Â
Rose Doda (2:34.30) and
Allison Trezona (2:35.86) were close behind Paulsen in heat two as well.
St. Olaf entered three athletes in the distance races, with
Madeleine Wagner-Sherer and Rachael Hoober running the 3000, finishing with times of 11:56.83 and 12:06.00 respectively and
Siri Block setting a season best in the 5000 with a 21:11.91.
Emma Fulton cleared 3.10 meters in the pole vault, with
Katya Wendt and
Anna Johnson making it over 2.80 and 2.65 meters. Â
Madison Van Wylen topped her prelim time by 0.35 seconds to finish fourth in 15.85 in the 100 meter hurdles. Â Van Wylen was also sixth in the long jump, bounding 3.92 meters.
The next race for the Oles will be at the Tommie Twilight meet on Wednesday.
