Craig FitzSimmons was a standout guard for the St. Olaf basketball team in the late 1970s. FitzSimmons, a Willmar, Minn. native, was a three-time letter winner and two-time team captain for the Oles his junior and senior seasons. He was a two-time all conference pick and named to the all-region team his senior year. In 1977, he was named to the Augsburg Invitational All-Tournament Team and in 1979 was part of the NAIA All-District 13 team. FitzSimmons is fourth and 11th on the single season points list with 519 and 464. He is 16th in career points with 1,027. After St. Olaf, FitzSimmons went on to play professional basketball in the Australian National Basketball League (1981, 1983-1990). He was named MVP four times throughout his professional career. In 1983 he was MVP of both the Western Australian Basketball League and the Merlion Cup (Singapore), and in 1996 and ‘97 was the MVP for the Shepparton Gators. He was a part of two WABL championship teams (1983 East Perth and 1986 Wanneroo). He played in over 1,000 professional games throughout his time in Australia FitzSimmons was the State Director of Coaching Western Australia from 1983-88 and has coached thousands of kids and coaches over the last 23 years. Today he resides in Bali, Indonesia.
