Dan LaManna was one of the best catchers in the history of the St. Olaf Baseball program. The 2002 graduate was a three-time All-MIAC selection as the Oles posted three straight MIAC regular-season championships with the South St. Paul-native behind the plate. LaManna was a career .369 hitter at St. Olaf, which ranks in the top 15 all-time. He is fourth in career hits (180), sixth in career RBIs (121), second in career doubles (48) and fifth in at-bats (488). He had his best statistical season in 2001, when LaManna was a second-team all-region selection. He hit .439 with 19 doubles, five homers, 46 RBIs and 58 hits. He led the league in doubles, was second in hits and RBIs and was fifth in batting average that season. In the MIAC Playoffs, LaManna went 8-for-18 and was named to the all-tournament team. LaManna, who was a captain as a senior, was a run game stopper behind the plate. In his final season he threw out 15-of-24 that attempted to steal bases against him. In LaManna’s four seasons, the Ole Baseball program was 118-39 overall and 67-13 in MIAC games, including a remarkable 53-7 over the last three. St. Olaf reached an NCAA Regional final in his sophomore season and was in the MIAC Playoff Championship in each of the last three seasons.
Following his senior season, LaManna was picked up by the Winnipeg Goldeyes of the Northern League. He had limited at-bats, but went 5-for-14 (.357) with two doubles in seven games.
LaManna works at U.S. Bank as a Specialty Asset Manager and resides in St. Paul with his wife, Erin, and their son Miles.
