David F. Schmidt wrestled at the 177-pound class for three years, taking second placed in the Midwest Conference as a sophomore and first place as a junior and senior. He was captain and MVP of the wrestling squad. Schmidt was an Olympic wrestling finalist in 1964 and 1968, and he was a member of the All-Army and Interservice wrestling teams. Schmidt has been a high school teacher/coach and an administrator/coach at Pacific Lutheran University. He currently directs Renewal Counseling and Educational Services.
