Elsworth Burskirk, a three-sport athlete in tennis, football and hockey at St. Olaf. The No. 1 Ole tennis singles and doubles player, won the state doubles championship with Ole Larson in 1947. For two seasons was an end and punter on the Ole football team, for three years he lettered as a defenseman and center in hockey. Received the St. Olaf Distinguished Alumni Award and the American College of Sports Medicine Honor Award. For many years, taught applied physiology at Pennsylvania State University, retired in 1992 as Marie Underhill Noll Professor of Human Performance and director of the Laboratory for Human Performance Research, College of Heath and Human Development.
