Jacob Koch '09 was an All-American or Honorable Mention All-American 25 times during his standout career, including finishing as the national runner-up in the 200-yard individual medley to teammate and fellow St. Olaf Athletic Hall of Fame inductee Nelson Westby '09 as a senior. Koch was also a four-time MIAC champion, winning the 100-yard freestyle in 2006, 2008, and 2009, as well as the 200-yard freestyle in 2009, to help the Oles to MIAC team titles in 2007 and 2009. St. Olaf placed in the top 10 in the country in each of Koch's four seasons, including finishing fourth in 2009 to tie for the best national finish in program history. He remains the school record holder in the 100-yard freestyle (44.61) and ranks second in the 50-yard freestyle (20.54), third in the 200-yard freestyle (1:39.89), and fourth in the 200-yard IM (1:49.21).
