St. Olaf College Athletics

John A. Kirkeby earned ten St. Olaf letters in football, basketball and track. He was captain of the All-State football team in 1936. He was named all-time St. Olaf fullback in 1950. He also set track records in high and low hurdles and pole vault. Kirkeby has coached at Preston, Granite Falls, North Branch and Worthington, Minn., where he has handled baseball and track since 1946. He is active as a member and officer in education associations, and is a church elder and long-time Sunday school teacher.
