St. Olaf College Athletics

Mike Ludwig '03 was a standout on the St. Olaf baseball and men's basketball teams. In basketball, Ludwig was a four-time Team MVP and three-time All-MIAC selection, finishing his career second in program history with 1,635 points. He led the MIAC in scoring as a sophomore and scored in double figures in all but eight games in his career, while eclipsing 30 points in a game six times. In his senior year, he helped St. Olaf reach the playoffs for the first time in five seasons and reclaim the Goat Trophy for the first time in 14 years.

On the diamond, Ludwig was part of four MIAC Championship baseball teams, as the Oles posted a 69-11 mark in MIAC play during his career. Over his final three seasons, Ludwig hit a combined .339 with 12 home runs. St. Olaf won MIAC regular-season titles in his sophomore and junior seasons and a MIAC Playoff championship in his senior campaign. As a junior, he led the MIAC in home runs in league play and ranked in the top 10 in the league in hits, RBI, runs and total bases. As a senior, he was an All-MIAC and All-Midwest Region First Team selection after hitting .367 with four home runs, 15 doubles and 31 RBI, while making no errors on 317 chances in the field.

Ludwig was a 37th-round pick of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2003 MLB Draft, becoming the first Ole to be drafted since 1997. He played two seasons in the Dodgers' farm system, hitting a combined .235 for the Golf Coast Dodgers (R) and the Ogden Raptors (R-Ad), primarily as a first and third baseman.
 
In the fall of 2004, Ludwign returned to St. Olaf as sports information director and assistant athletic director. In that role, he has eight CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) publication awards to his credit, including five best in the nation honors. From 2009-2014, he was a member the women's basketball coaching staff at St. Olaf, working primarily with the post players and handling out-of-state recruiting.
