Schmiesing, a native of Madelia, Minn., earned St. Olaf Most Valuable Player awards in both football and track and field and qualified for the NCAA Division lll track championships in 1968. Co-captain of the St. Olaf football team, he was All Luthern and honorable mention All-American--and a 7th round draft choice of the Philadelphia Eagles (NFL) in 1969. Schmiesing also took time for music at St. Olaf, most notably as  solo pianist. He was a guest student at the University of Bergan (Norway) in 1971 adn earned his masters degree from College of St. Thomas in 1972. Currently employed at the UNISYS Corporation as a financial manager, he won a UNISYS Achievement Award in 1988. He also has served as an internal consultant and financial analyst for the company. Schmiesing and his family live in Stillwater, Minn.
