Tom Porter, known to generations of Oles as professor of physical education and head football coach at St. Olaf, is remembered by classmates as an exceptional athlete: co-captain and three-year letter winner in football, co-captain and four-year letter winner in hockey, and co-honor athlete and three-year letter winner in baseball. During the 32 years at the helm of Ole football, Porter posted a record of 171-119-5, ranking him seventh in victories among NCAA III coaches.
