NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Emily Helle and Ava Olson scored as the St. Olaf women's soccer team defeated Bethel University 2-0 in the MIAC opener for each school on Tuesday afternoon at Rolf Mellby Field. 

Helle opened the scoring with a rebound goal off of a corner kick in the fifth minute. Emily Sierakowski assisted on the tally.

The Oles' Ava Olson added a score in the opening minutes of the second half -- at 51:43 -- on an assist from Kajsa Brindley to make it 2-0. Goalkeeper Ruth Hesse made four saves to pick up the shutout victory. 

St. Olaf will host the College of Saint Benedict on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. The match was scheduled for 1 p.m. in St. Joseph, but field conditions moved the game to St. Olaf.
