NORTHFIELD, Minn.-
Jane Vezina scored as late in regulation as possible, with 0.1 seconds showing on the clock to be exact, and the St. Olaf women's hockey team skated to a 2-2 tie against Concordia-Moorhead Saturday afternoon at Northfield Ice Arena.
St. Olaf (1-17-3, 0-11-3 MIAC) pulled goaltender
Cassie Alexander with 1:30 remaining but it wasn't until a late flurry in front of the net when Vezina found a loose puck and tossed a backhand towards goal that found the back of the net.
Kiki Platek and
Megan Skelly earned assists officially at 19:59.
Concordia (8-10-3, 7-4-3 MIAC) outshot the Oles 46-27 but Alexander came up huge all game, especially in the second period when she stopped all 21 Cobber shots.
Platek opened the scoring on the power play 3:48 into the game with the lone assist going to Skelly. Concordia would score twice before the end of the first period, the second on the power play, as the Cobbers led 2-1 until Vezina's heroics tied the game.
St. Olaf will be in action Friday at home against St. Catherine beginning at 7:30 p.m.
