KERRVILLE, Texas - St. Olaf finished its 10-game trip to Texas with two wins on Thursday afternoon, sweeping host Schreiner University 3-2 and 8-7.
Game One: St. Olaf 3, Schreiner 2Brooke Paradise and
Woo Bandel had two hits each as St. Olaf raced to a 3-0 lead and held off Schreiner for the 3-2 victory.
Danielle Collins tossed all seven innings to get the win for the Oles, allowing two earned runs on five hits.
Game Two: St. Olaf 8, Schreiner 7The Oles (5-13) exploded for seven second inning runs -- and weathered six from Schreiner in the bottom of the sixth -- to complete its second sweep in the last three days.
A Paradise double in the top of the seventh broke a 6-6 tie. She drove in
Jessica Bentley, who reached on an error earlier in the inning. Paradise was 2-for-3 and Bentley 2-for-4 with two runs in the win.
Chandler Beaupre picked up the win in relief, pitching the final 1 2/3 innings. She allowed two hits and a walk, but did not allow a run.
St. Olaf has won four of its last six and will open its MIAC schedule on Saturday at Macalester.
