PASEDENA, Calif. -
Betsey Daly had 18 rebounds to go with seven points as the St. Olaf women's basketball team used
Margaret Andersen's team-best 14 points in a 61-48 victory over host Caltech on Saturday afternoon at Braun Athletic Center.
Daly was two shy of a school-record 20 rebounds she had as a sophomore in a Jan. 15, 2015 win at St. Catherine University.
Andersen hit four three-pointers (4-for-11) and had two assists and three steals as the Oles built a 16-point halftime lead. The Oles led by as many as 21 in the first half but Caltech (0-3) outscored the Oles 15-6 in the third quarter and got within five late in the third quarter.
St. Olaf shot only 22.6 percent from the floor in the second half, but made 5-of-13 from the arc to seal the win.
Michelle Lother and
Miranda Thacker had three each in the game and
Katie Crowley added two off the bench. The Oles were better from the arc (34.2 percent) than they were from 2-point range (25.0 percent, 9-for-36) and from the free throw line (33.0 percent, 4-for-12).
St. Olaf will open the MIAC schedule on Wednesday at Bethel University at 7 p.m.
