ST. PAUL, Minn. - The St. Olaf baseball team swept Northwestern University (Minn.) in Thursday afternoon's double header at Reynolds Field. Both team jockeyed for the lead in the opening game, with St. Olaf securing a 10-5 victory on a six run fourth inning. St. Olaf won the second game of the doubleheader 8-4, stringing together three multiple run innings.

Game One: St. Olaf 10, Â Northwestern (Minn.) 5
Ryan Iverson started the scoring for St. Olaf (6-9, 1-1 MIAC) in the top of the second, with a two run home run. Northwestern (6-13) then took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the third, with a string of walks and RBI singles. The Oles' six run fourth was led by Will Gustafson, Kap Davis, and Joe Keiski all of whom recorded two RBIs respectively.

St. Olaf had four pitchers enter the game enroute of the victory, with Nate Marshall picking up the win on 1.1 innings pitched.

Northwestern's Troy Nelson was dealt the loss, pitching 3.1 while striking out three batters.

St. Olaf had five extra base hits, 11 hits in total, compared to Northwestern's eight in the contest.

Game Two: St. Olaf 8, Â Northwestern (Minn.) 4
St. Olaf continued its run production in the top of the first, of game two. Scoring three runs on a string of hits, capped by Jake Ossell's two-run double. Sam Stuckmayer entered the game in the top of the fifth, hitting a bases clearing three-run double to give the Oles a 6-3 lead over the Eagles, securing the victory.

Northwestern University managed to tie the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the fourth with a two-out rally of their own, capitalizing on a St. Olaf throwing error.

Tim Maus went 2-for-4 with three runs for the Oles, while Stuckmayer went 2-for-2 with three RBIs.

Erik Nyquist was handed the loss, pitching 5.0 innings for Northwestern, while recording seven strikeouts.
St. Olaf will be back in St. Paul, Minn. on Saturday afternoon to face Bethel University in a MIAC doubleheader.
