MINNEAPOLIS - St. Olaf erupted for 23 hits and 14 runs in a 14-7 victory over Augsburg in game one of a MIAC baseball doubleheader on Saturday at Parade Stadium. The Auggies scored two in the eighth inning to upend the Oles 2-1 in the season finale.
Game One: St. Olaf 14, Augsburg 7
Sam Stuckmayer,
Thomas Peterson and
Joe Keiski each went 4-for-5 as the Oles scored in each of the first five innings to top the Auggies in the opener. Stuckmayer doubled twice, tripled and drove in five. Keiski scored four times while
Adam Alexander (3-for-5),
Kap Davis (3-for-4) and
Will Cipos (3-for-4) had three hits apiece.
St. Olaf led 8-0 before the Auggies scored six times in the bottom of the fourth to close the lead to two. St. Olaf responded with a five-run fifth inning and another run in the top of the seventh.
Nate Marshall earned the win, working two innings of relief.
Nate Gelle worked the final one and a third, retiring all four batters he faced.
Game Two: Augsburg 2, St. Olaf 1
Stuckmayer drove in the Oles' only run in the third inning while Keiski and Cipos had two hits each, but the Auggies scored twice in the bottom of the eighth to corale the game two win. Bryce Pruszinske collected the two-out, two-run single in the eighth inning for Augsburg.Â
Thomas Peterson worked seven and two thirds for the Oles, scattering seven hits and two walks. Gelle retired the only batter he faced in the eighth inning to work out of a bases loaded jam.Â
St. Olaf stranded eight runners and Augsburg eight.Â
