Jane Vezina's second period power-play goal lifted the St. Olaf women's hockey team to a 4-1 win over St. Catherine University on Saturday to complete the MIAC series sweep.
Hannah Forliti had a goal and two assists as the Oles won their fifth MIACÂ (5-7-0) game of the season. Forliti and
Megan Skelly assisted on a
Xandi Swedberg goal that gave St. Olaf a 1-0 lead. After Cassie Thomas tied it for SCU, Forliti found Vezina for the game-winner at 9:25 of the second. Forliti and
Karma Knutson had empty-net goals in the final minute.Â
Cassie Alexander made 20 saves to earn the victory in net. St. Olaf held a sizeable advantage in shots, 40-21, and had eight power play opportunities (2-for-8) to the Wildcats' three (1-for-3).Â
St. Olaf plays a home-and-home with Bethel University next weekend.Â
