NORTHFIELD, Minn - The Oles were held scoreless as No. 6 Gustavus (10-5-3, 5-4-2 MIAC) shut out No. 3 St. Olaf (9-8-2, 6-3-2 MIAC) 2-0 in the MIAC Quarterfinals on Tuesday afternoon.
After a scoreless first period, the Gusties scored in the first minute of the second when Chase Miller pivoted and shot between the legs of an Ole defender and past the diving Brynne Davis. Gustavus added to their lead in the 52nd minute as Emily Skogseth beat an Ole defender across the middle and shot beyond the reach of the diving Davis and into the goal.
St. Olaf had a scoring chance in the first half with a penalty kick. Kaylyn Billmeyer took the shot, but Gustie goalie Ashley Becker dove in front to deny the Oles.
The Oles took eight shots in the first period to the Gusties three. In the second the Oles managed one shot, while the Gusties had two. Two of the Oles shots were on goal.
