LA CROSSE, Wis. - Competing in their second outdoor meet of the season, the St. Olaf men's track team traveled to the Phil Esten Challenge hosted by UW-La Crosse on Saturday.
The Oles turned in a number of MIACÂ qualifying times against wide competition, finishing 10th as a team out of the 17 competing teams.
Thomas Lerdall was sixth in the 10,000 meters, running 31:08.23 which is currently the 36th fastest time in DIII competition this season. The 1500 also had national standard times as
Keith Ketola and
Sean Lonergan ran 3:55.09 and 3:56.14 respectively. Ketola's time is the 25th fastest and Lonergan's 40th fastest in DIII competition.
Joe Pugh rolled to a 49.82 in the 400 meter race. A career best at St. Olaf for the senior bodes well for the upcoming MIAC conference meets.
The distance duo of
Jonah Herzog and
Chris Brenk finished in 15:55.05 and 16:05.2 in the 5000 meters early in the day on Saturday. In the hurdle events, Ben Scott went for the double, running 16.23 to finish seventh in the 110 meter hurdles, and 56.39 to place fourth in the 400 meter hurdles.
