Baseball: Oles fall 10-5, 9-8 to Scots

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The St. Olaf baseball team (14-18, 4-12 MIAC) was defeated by Macalester College (21-14, 11-7 MIAC) by finals of 10-5 and 9-8 on Wednesday.

The Oles allowed 13 hits in a 10-5 loss in the opening game.

Jake Ossell drove in two runs for the Oles, highlighted by a solo home run in the seventh inning.

Sam Goldberg led the Scots with four RBI, going 3-for-4 with a three-run homer in the third.

Mathew Plisko (8-1) earned the win, allowing four runs, two earned, on five hits and three walks while striking out eight in six innings of work.

Macalester 9, St. Olaf 8
Sam Stuckmayer launched three home runs, but the Oles fell 9-8 in a nine-inning game.

Stuckmayer's first homer was a two-run shot that pushed the Oles to a 5-1 lead in the third inning.

The Scots rallied to cut the Oles lead to 5-4 before Stuckmayer hit a solo-shot to left-center to push the Oles to a two-run advantage.

In the top of the ninth-inning, Stuckmayer gave the Oles a 8-7 lead with his third home-run of the game. 

Three outs away from a loss, the Scots capitalized with a pair of RBI singles to take back the game and walk-off to a 9-8 victory.

The two teams combined for 31 hits in the game. The Scots had 17 to the Oles' 14.

Next up for the Oles is a visit to Saint John's University for a pair of conference games on Saturday.
