ST. PAUL, Minn. - The No. 5 St. Olaf softball team (23-17) was shut out 6-0 by the No. 1 University of St. Thomas (33-6) in the MIAC Playoffs on Friday.
Hayley Dunning (21-2) earned the win for the Tommies, shutting out the Oles on three hits and two walks while striking out three in five and one-third innings.
Elise Barnes was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and a run scored for the Tommies, highlighted by a stand-up RBI triple in the second inning.
Ally Bode got on base twice for the Oles with a hit and a walk.
The Oles next play on Saturday at 1:30pm. Their opponent will be either No. 2 St. Catherine or No. 4 Saint Benedict.
