MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. – The University of St. Thomas scored three times in the first 6:08 on its way to an 8-1 victory over the St. Olaf College women's hockey team in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) opener for both teams on Friday night at St. Thomas Ice Arena.
Anna Williams, Sarah Moy, and Maddy Fiedler scored in the early flurry for St. Thomas (2-1-1, 1-0-0 MIAC) and the Tommies added five goals in the second period to build an 8-0 lead after two. Senior
Johanna Glaaser scored the lone goal of the third period at 1:39 for St. Olaf (0-5-0, 0-1-0 MIAC).
Goals from Williams and Moy inside the first 2:29 of the game gave the Tommies a quick 2-0 lead before Fiedler made it a 3-0 game at the 6:08 mark of the opening period. St. Thomas stretched its lead to 8-0 with five goals in the span of 10:44 in the second period, as five different Tommies scored in the period, including Fiedler's second tally of the game.

Johanna Glaaser scored her second goal of the season unassisted for the lone goal of the night for the Oles. Three goaltenders combined to make 45 saves in the game for St. Olaf, with junior
Kaitlyn Pellicci and sophomore
Grace Boswell-Healey each tallying 21 saves.
The Oles and Tommies wrap up their series on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. at St. Olaf Ice Arena on Youth Girls and Women's Hockey Day, presented by Schieck Orthodontics. Prior to the game, St. Olaf will host a youth clinic from noon until 1 p.m., followed by junior varsity and varsity games between Northfield and Mound-Westonka prior to the collegiate game.
