Women's basketball tops Crown College

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – Four members of the St. Olaf College women's basketball team reached double figures as the Oles downed Crown College, 76-46, at the Wild Athletic Center on Tuesday evening.

Senior Britta Koenen led St. Olaf with 14 points, while sophomore Camryn Scott recorded her second double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Junior Keegan Mulvihill reached double figures with 12 points, four steals and three assists, and first year Rachel Kelly had 11 points.

St. Olaf (3-2) held Crown (1-4) to 27.3 percent shooting from the floor and outrebounded the Storm, 50-35, to pick up the victory.

St. Olaf took its largest lead in the first quarter with 16 seconds to go in the period after first year Sophie Olmen found Mulvihill for a layup to make the score 18-9.

A three-pointer from Lewis at 6:17 in the second quarter sparked a 17-5 run by the Oles that included two three pointers from senior Allyson Fuller. First year Rachel
Kelly had three baskets in the final 1:48 of the second quarter as St. Olaf took a 17-point lead at 40-23 heading into the half.

Crown got within 15 in the third quarter as Shauna Thompson sank one behind the arc, but a pair of free throws from Koenen and a jumper from Olmen put St. Olaf back up 19 with 4:55 left in the third. Koenen had eight of her 14 points in the third quarter, including a three-point play at 3:41 to extend the Oles lead to 25.

Mulvihill scored St. Olaf's first four points in the final period, followed by a basket from Kelly to make the lead 62-33. Fuller sank her third three-pointer of the game halfway through the quarter to keep the Oles lead at 29. The Oles would lead by as many as 35 in the contest.

St. Olaf opens its Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) play at Saint Mary's on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 3 p.m.
