ST. PAUL, Minn. – Bre Simon had two goals and two assists to lead No. 9 Hamline University to a 6-0 victory over the St. Olaf College women's hockey team in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) matchup on Friday evening at TRIA Rink.
Simon scored once in each of the first two periods and added a pair of assists for Hamline (3-2-1, 2-1-0 MIAC), as the Pipers built a 5-0 lead after two periods. Sophomore
Ivy Shonka saved 24 of the 25 shots she faced over the final 27:14 for St. Olaf (0-7-0, 0-3-0 MIAC).
At 7:40 of the first period, Simon got the scoring started, collecting the puck at center ice before weaving into the St. Olaf zone and scoring on the forehand while cutting towards the goal from the left for an unassisted goal. Eight minutes later, Simon set up a goal by Madison Davis, who jammed the puck in from close range after Simon's shot was deflected up into the air.
The Pipers pushed their lead to 5-0 after two periods with a three-goal second period. Simon grabbed her second goal of the night at 2:09 before Taylor Stefan and Sophie Rausch scored less than three minutes apart near the midway point of the period.

Taylor Smith made 27 saves over the opening 32:46 of the game, before Shonka stopped 24 shots over the remaining 27:14.
McKenna Hulslander posted the four-save shutout for Hamline, which committed five minor penalties, three in the second period, but killed off each of the infractions.
The two teams wrap up their series on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. at St. Olaf Ice Arena.
