CLERMONT, Fla. – The St. Olaf College softball team posted its second consecutive two-win day on Monday, defeating the College of New Rochelle, 8-1, and Thomas College, 2-1, at THE Spring Games behind strong starts from first year
Sydney Robson and junior
Julie Graf.
Robson earned her first-career victory in the opener for St. Olaf (10-4), holding New Rochelle (9-4) to one run in six innings, as the Oles pulled away late with five runs in the seventh. Graf posted the second-highest strikeout total of her career in the second game of the day, fanning 18 in a walk-off victory over Thomas (6-2).

After surrendering a run in the first inning, Robson shut out the Blue Angels over her final five innings of work. The first year allowed just five hits and two walks in her first collegiate victory before Graf finished off New Rochelle in the seventh.
Seven hitters had one hit apiece for St. Olaf, which scored twice in the fourth, once in the fifth and five in the seventh to claim the win.
Trailing 1-0, the Oles gave Robson all the run support she would need in the fourth, scoring twice with two outs. St. Olaf profited from three New Rochelle errors in the inning, scoring on the third before an RBI single by
Tarah DeCroock brought in the go-ahead run.

With the score locked at 1-1 in the bottom of the seventh, Carr reached on an error with runners on first and third, allowing Bode to score the game-winning run to give the Oles their first walk-off win of the season.
Graf outdueled a pair of Thomas pitchers, striking out 18 batters while allowing just one unearned run on five hits and two walks to record the victory. The 18 strikeouts were the second-highest total of Graf's career and were just one shy of her career-high 19 against Grinnell College on Mar. 20, 2017.
Graf struck out the side four times in the game, including in the fourth inning when the Terriers took a 1-0 lead, scoring on a wild pitch that followed a one-out double by Sydney LeBourveau, who moved to third on an error on the play. LeBourveau had three of Thomas' five hits off Graf.
The Oles got the run right back in the bottom of the fourth. Carr hit the first pitch of the inning up the middle for a single and
Andrea Conway was hit by a pitch two batters later to leave runners on first and second with one out. Curry followed with a single down the left-field line to score Carr and knot the score at 1-1.
Graf struck out four batters in the fifth, but St. Olaf left runners on second and third in the fifth as the score stayed 1-1 until the home half of the seventh. With one out, Bode singled to right, moved to second when Graf reached on an error, advanced to third on a fly out and scored on the second Thomas error of the inning to give the Oles their fourth-straight win.
On its final day of action in Florida, St. Olaf faces a pair of nationally-ranked Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) teams on Tuesday, Mar. 26. The Oles take on No. 20 UW-Oshkosh at 1 p.m. CDT and No. 21 UW-Eau Claire at 3:30 p.m. CDT.
