NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Visiting Saint John's University used seven pins to defeat the St. Olaf College wrestling team by a 45-6 score on Thursday evening at Skoglund Center.
Saint John's (2-5) won all eight of the contested weight classes to defeat St. Olaf (1-2) in the Oles' final home dual and its final competition before the NCAA Division III Upper Midwest Regional in two weeks.
After both teams were open at 125 pounds, third-ranked Noah Becker and Anthony Hennen recorded pins at 133 and 141 to get the Johnnies out to a 12-0 lead. Sophomore
Jack Ridgway earned St. Olaf six points by virtue of a default at 149 pounds to halve the deficit.
Jerod Novak posted a 9-3 decision over senior
Bryant Ridgway at 157 pounds to push Saint John's lead to 9-3. The Johnnies won the final five weight classes by fall.
St. Olaf competes at the NCAA Division III Upper Midwest Regional at Augsburg's Si Melby Hall on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 28-29.
