PELLA, Iowa – The St. Olaf College women's tennis team blanked Central College, 9-0, in a rare early-March outdoor match on Friday at A.N. Kuyper Athletic Complex.
St. Olaf (3-1) opened the match by sweeping the three doubles matches to improve to 10-2 as a team in doubles in dual matches this season. The Oles went on to win all six of the singles matches to complete the sweep of Central (7-7), winning a pair of super tiebreakers in the process.

Allie Prokosch and
Emily Otteson/
Greta Prokosch posted identical 8-3 victories at the top-two doubles sports, while
Ella Hagopian and
Teresa Fawcett edged their opponents by an 8-6 margin at No. 3 doubles. Otteson and Prokosch's win was their fifth in a row as a tandem.
St. Olaf earned straight-set victories at the top-four singles positions and pulled out wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles to finish off the 9-0 win. Barboza claimed a pair of tiebreakers in her 7-6 (4), 7-6 (0) victory at No. 1 singles, while A. Prokosch, G. Prokosch and
Christiana Cholakis all dropped five games or fewer in their singles wins.
Teresa Fawcett and
Katherine Ichinose split their first two sets before winning super tiebreakers by 10-6 scores in the fifth and sixth singles matches. Fawcett earned her first win of the season with a 6-2, 2-6, 10-6 win at No. 5 singles, while Ichinose rallied from a set down for a 5-7, 6-4, 10-6 victory at No. 6 singles.
All three of Ichinose's singles matches this season have gone the distance.
Greta Prokosch's 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles was her fourth in a row and her team-leading fifth of the season.
St. Olaf's next match is on Saturday, Apr. 4 against St. Thomas at 5:30 p.m. at Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis.
