NORTHFIELD, Minn. – In its final tune-up before next week's Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Playoffs, the St. Olaf College women's tennis team recorded an 8-1 victory over Concordia-Moorhead on Saturday afternoon at Carlson Courts.
St. Olaf (4-5, 4-5 MIAC) dropped just four games in the three doubles matches and four games in its five singles victories to pick up its 21st win in a row in the series against Concordia (3-8, 1-8 MIAC). The Cobbers got a 6-3, 6-3 victory from Raquel Egge at No. 1 singles for their lone point of the afternoon.
The Oles are locked into the No. 6 seed and will play in the quarterfinal round of the MIAC Playoffs on Wednesday, May 5 at 3:30 p.m. St. Olaf's opponent has yet to be determined.
At No. 1 doubles,
Sabrina Barboza and
Allie Prokosch won their fourth-straight match with an 8-2 victory to finish off a 6-3 regular season as a pairing.
Emily Otteson and
Greta Prokosch recorded an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles for their third win in a row and seventh victory in nine matches as a pairing this season. First-time pairing
Sophie Mariano and
Soren Saunders added an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles.
Otteson,
Greta Prokosch, and
Christiana Cholakis all did not drop a game in their matches at No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 singles, while
Allie Prokosch and
Teresa Fawcett lost just one game in each set of theirs at No. 2 and No. 6 singles.
Greta Prokosch's victory at No. 4 singles was her team-leading seventh of the season, while Otteson's win at No. 3 singles was her sixth.
