ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Bethel University shot 52.6 percent from the field and forced 30 turnovers on its way to a 102-47 victory over the St. Olaf College women's basketball team in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) action on Saturday afternoon at the Robertson Center.
Bethel (6-5, 5-3 MIAC) had four of its five starters score in double figures, including two with at least 20 points, and recorded 25 steals that helped the Royals to a 34-2 advantage in points off turnovers. Senior
K'Lynn Lewis had a team-high 19 points for St. Olaf (3-8, 2-6 MIAC), which suffered its fifth-straight defeat.
Makenna Pearson scored 17 of her game-high 25 points in the opening half and added seven rebounds for Bethel, which also got 21 points and seven boards from Hayden Glander. Courtney Nuest recorded 19 points and Anna Garfield had 10, while Bella Williams handed out 10 assists and had eight steals for the hosts, who were 41-for-78 from the field in the win.

Sarah Tangen, who had 11 on 5-for-8 shooting. Bethel outscored St. Olaf by a 66-24 margin in the paint and 33-4 in fast-break points.
Consecutive three-pointers by Lewis and Tangen gave St. Olaf an early 8-7 lead with 2:30 gone in the opening quarter. After Tangen's three-pointer, Bethel held the Oles scoreless for just over five minutes during a 14-0 run that gave the hosts a 21-8 advantage and the Royals led by double figures for the rest of the game. Bethel led 29-12 after one quarter after forcing nine turnovers in the opening 10 minutes.
Pearson's 17 first-half points helped Bethel to a 49-23 halftime lead that ballooned to as many as 57 in the second half. Ten Royals scored in the second half as Bethel shot 59.0 percent (23-for-39) from the field over the final two quarters.
St. Olaf hosts Saint Ben's on Monday, Jan. 10 at 7 p.m.
