OWATONNA, Minn. – First year
Sarah Clark won the deciding match at No. 2 singles in a super tiebreaker to give the St. Olaf College women's tennis team a 5-4 victory over Saint Mary's University (Minn.) on Friday evening at West Hills Tennis and Fitness Center.
With the score tied at 4-4, the match came down to the No. 2 singles match between Clark and Kennedy Morgan, who split the first two sets to send the match to a decisive super tiebreaker. Clark got out to an early lead in the super tiebreaker and held on to win it, 10-8, to give St. Olaf (2-2, 2-1 MIAC) the win over Saint Mary's (7-5, 0-3 MIAC).

St. Olaf stretched its lead to 4-1 by winning the first two singles matches to finish, getting a 6-0 6-1 win from first year
Fiona O'Flaherty at No. 4 singles and a 6-2, 6-3 win from Spading at No. 6 singles to move within one point of securing the team win.
Saint Mary's responded with wins at No. 3, No. 1, and No. 5 singles to tie the score at 4-4 and shift attention to the No. 2 singles match. After dropping the first set in a tiebreaker, Clark rallied to win the second set, 6-2, to set up the decisive super tiebreaker. In the decider, the first year opened up an early 5-1 lead before Morgan fought back to get within a point at 5-4. Clark won four of the next five points to extend her lead to 9-5 and held on for a 10-8 win to seal the victory.
The Oles are slated to host Saint Ben's in their first outdoor match of the season on Saturday, March 19 at 11 a.m. at Carlson Courts.
