NORTHFIELD, Minn. – A solitary first-half goal sent visiting St. Norbert College to a 1-0 win over the St. Olaf College women's soccer team on Saturday afternoon at Rolf Mellby Field.
Haley Leadingham netted the lone goal of the game in the 35th minute for St. Norbert (1-2-0), which picked up its first win of the young season. St. Olaf (1-3-0) held a 16-7 advantage in shots in the game but got just four shots on goal in the loss.
Leadingham broke the deadlock by getting on the end of a cross from Abby Thompson on the right and steering the ball into the lower-left corner of the goal from in front with just over 10 minutes remaining in the opening half. The Oles outshot the Green Knights by a 9-2 margin in the second half but were unable to generate a goal.

Grace Sprangers split time in goal for St. Olaf and combined for three saves.

St. Olaf opens Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) play by hosting Bethel University on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 4 p.m. at Rolf Mellby Field.
