NORTHFIELD, Minn. – First year
Katie Beaudry scored her first collegiate goal to send the St. Olaf College women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over UW-Stevens Point on Sunday afternoon at Rolf Mellby Field.
In a scoreless game, Beaudry headed in a corner kick from classmate
Marit Klagge in the 66th minute for the lone goal of the game to give St. Olaf (1-1-0) its first win under first-year head coach
Becky Maines. The Oles outshot UW-Stevens Point (0-2-0) by a 28-4 margin in the game, including a 13-1 advantage in shots on goal, but settled for the 1-0 win after Miranda Nieman made 12 saves for the Pointers.
Beaudry's goal came on St. Olaf's fifth corner kick of the second half and its eighth of the game. The assist was Klagge's first collegiate point.
The Oles outshot the Pointers by a 17-3 margin in the first half and had several scoring opportunities but were unable to find a breakthrough in the opening 45 minutes. Junior
