BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Sophomore
Solvei Berg-Messerole of the St. Olaf College women's hockey team was picked as the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Women's Hockey Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Berg-Messerole collected the second MIAC Women's Hockey Offensive Player of the Week accolade of her career after picking up five points in St. Olaf's road sweep of Northland College over the weekend. The sophomore has had multi-point games in each of her last three contests and has three goals and five assists over that span.
Over the weekend, the Minneapolis native had a goal and two assists in a 5-1 victory on Friday night before scoring twice, including the game-winner 45 seconds into the third period to break a 1-1 tie, in the Oles' 3-1 win in the series finale on Saturday. Berg-Messerole also won 19-of-28 (67.9 percent) of her faceoffs in the two games.
St. Olaf begins MIAC play with a trip to the National Sports Center in Blaine to face Bethel University on Friday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m.
