NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The ninth-ranked St. Olaf College women's cross country team had five of the top-seven finishers on its way to winning the Ole 5K Opener on Friday evening on its home course.
St. Olaf used a 3-4-5-6-7 showing from its top-five finishers to finish with 25 points in the team standings, winning the meet by 32 points over the second-place College of St. Scholastica. In total, the Oles had 12 of the first 21 runners to cross the finish line on the night.
Sophomore
Lauren Walda led the way for St. Olaf with a third-place performance in 19:27.5, finishing just over a second ahead of senior
Bella Call. Senior
Sophie Call was six seconds behind her twin sister in fifth (19:34.6), with senior
Katie Gebert and sophomore
Grace Moeller rounding out the Oles' top five. Gebert was sixth in 19:40.3, followed closely by Moeller in seventh in 19:44.4.
Sophomore
Ella Landis and junior
Sophie Abernethy were separated by just one second in 12th and 13th place, respectively, while senior
Julia Everest made it eight Oles in the top 15 in 15th (20:34.7). Junior
Sofia Carlson, sophomore
Molly Kate McCloskey, junior
Gracia Larsen-Schmidt, and senior
Kristina Rohrer were also in the top 21.
St. Olaf hosts its annual Alumni Meet on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 10 a.m.
