ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Senior
Marit Klagge scored in the closing minutes for the regionally-ranked St. Olaf College women's soccer team in a 1-0 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) victory over the College of Saint Benedict on Saturday afternoon at the CSB Turf Field.
With the game still scoreless, Klagge netted her fifth goal of the season in the 85th minute to give St. Olaf (10-1-1, 4-0-1 MIAC) its fifth consecutive shutout victory with the win over Saint Ben's (5-7-0, 3-2-0 MIAC). The victory and Carleton College's win over St. Catherine University moved the Oles into a first-place tie with the Knights atop the MIAC standings on 13 points, one ahead of the Wildcats. St. Olaf was ranked No. 5 in this week's United Soccer Coaches Region IX Poll.
St. Olaf dominated the shot count by a 24-3 margin – 9-2 in shots on goal – but had to wait for Klagge's late goal to make the breakthrough. Klagge was on hand to bundle the ball in from close range after junior
