Johnson named Coach of the Year, four Oles honored in MIAC Women's Hockey Awards

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Sixth-year head coach Tracy Johnson of the St. Olaf College women's hockey team was named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Coach of the Year and four Oles were honored in the 2024-25 MIAC Women's Hockey Awards, as announced on Monday afternoon.

In a vote by her peers, Johnson earned her second MIAC Women's Hockey Coach of the Year accolade (2023, 2025), becoming the first St. Olaf coach to land the award twice. Johnson led the Oles to a spot in the MIAC Playoffs for the third time in four seasons during a season that saw St. Olaf more than double its MIAC win total from last season and post its second-highest conference win total in over a decade.

Junior Solvei Berg-Messerole was named to the 20-member All-Conference Team for the third season in a row, making her the sixth Ole to collect at least three All-MIAC accolades in their career. In 18 conference games this season, Berg-Messerole tallied 14 points on six goals and eight assists while posting a plus-five rating, with the 14 points ranking tied for 12th in the MIAC. The junior also ranked third in the MIAC in shots (83) and fourth in faceoff winning percentage (.625) in conference games.

Junior Molly Terebayza picked up her third consecutive postseason accolade by receiving Honorable Mention All-MIAC honors after compiling 14 points on eight goals and six assists with a plus-seven rating in 18 conference games. Terebayza ranked eighth in shots (66), tied for ninth in goals, and tied for 12th in points in MIAC games this season.

Senior Grace Lankas also was an honorable-mention selection after helping anchor the blue line while posting one goal and four assists against MIAC opposition. Lankas helped the Oles tie for the team lead with 209 blocked shots (11.6 per game) in their 18 MIAC games with 16 blocked shots in the 17 conference games she played in. St. Olaf also ranked third in the conference by allowing 1.67 goals per game during MIAC play.

Senior Sophie McBane was named to the eight-member MIAC All-Playoff Team after registering a goal and an assist in St. Olaf's 3-2 quarterfinal loss at Saint Mary's University.
