CLAREMONT, Calif. – The St. Olaf College softball team saw its six-game winning streak come to an end with 7-0 and 5-2 losses to Pomona-Pitzer on Friday afternoon at Wig Beach Field.
Pomona-Pitzer (15-5) got complete games from Devin Waddell and Nyla Springer, who limited St. Olaf (8-4) to nine hits over the two games in the first-ever meetings between the Oles and Sagehens. After being shut out for the first time in nearly a year in the opener, St. Olaf led 2-0 in the fourth inning of game two before Pomona-Pitzer scored the final five runs of the game.
The Oles will take on Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges in a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. CDT on Saturday, March 29.

Waddell led Pomona-Pitzer to the shutout victory in game one by throwing a two-hitter in the circle and hitting a pair of home runs. Waddell limited the Oles to two hits and two walks with four strikeouts over the complete-game effort.
Sophomore
Regan Zak and senior
Amelia Christenson had the lone hits of the game for St. Olaf, as Christenson singled in the second and Zak doubled in the seventh. Christenson's single followed a leadoff walk to junior
Roxanne Ring in the top of the second with the score at 2-0, but the Oles could not score after advancing both runners into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt.
Waddell opened the scoring with a two-run home run in the first and hit the first of back-to-back solo home runs for the Sagehens in the sixth. Morgan Groves also drove in two runs out of the No. 9 spot in the order for the hosts.
Fifth-year senior
Jaelyn Orth worked the first 5.0 innings for St. Olaf, allowing five runs on nine hits with six walks and one strikeout.

Junior
Madyn Singleton held Pomona-Pitzer scoreless through the first three innings and hit a solo home run to help St. Olaf to a 2-0 lead, but the hosts claimed the come-from-behind win with three runs in the fourth and two more in the sixth.
Singleton was the lone Ole with multiple hits in the game, going 2-for-2 with her first home run of the season. Junior
Elle Brandt got on base three times by going 1-for-1 with a pair of walks.
St. Olaf got on the board first on a two-out RBI single by sophomore
Eva Hokanson that scored fifth-year senior
Shreya Ashok from second in the third. Singleton led off the top of the fourth with a solo shot to left to double the Oles' lead, but St. Olaf could not add to the lead after Brandt followed with a double.
Pomona-Pitzer strung together five consecutive one-out hits in the bottom of the fourth to score three runs and take the lead. The Sagehens went on to add two insurance runs after the second out of the bottom of the sixth. Springer took care of the rest to finish off a complete game where she held St. Olaf to two runs on seven hits with four walks and three strikeouts.
